I’ve come across so many patients who are ashamed of their smiles due to discolouration. Although tooth discolouration is common, it doesn’t have to be permanent.

Depending on the source of your tooth discolouration, the Philips Zoom Whitening system may be the perfect solution. If you’re eligible, you could be leaving my practice with a brighter smile in just one hour.

What Is the Philips Zoom Whitening System?

Philips Zoom is an in-chair teeth whitening treatment consisting of a hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent and Zoom light.

Before treatment begins, I cover your gums with a protective barrier, so the sensitive tissue doesn’t get irritated by the bleaching agent. Once the barrier is in place, I will paint a 25% hydrogen peroxide whitening gel on the surface of your teeth and turn on the powerful Zoom specialised UV light. This light activates the gel, helping it penetrate your teeth and lift stubborn, deep-set discolouration.

After 15 minutes, I remove the bleach and repeat the process two more times.

Why Choose Philips Zoom Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening has become one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments in Australia. It’s no surprise that the number of alternatives and over-the-counter methods has risen steadily over the past few years.

Although some chemist teeth whitening products can be effective, they take time and aren’t likely to achieve the same results as Philips Zoom, even with repeated use.

Zoom’s bleaching agent is much more potent and effective than the over the counter whitening strip. It can lighten your teeth up to eight shades within the same time period as the standard lunch break.

Philips Zoom whitening treatments are applied by me in my practice, so you don’t even have to do anything to make your teeth whiter – just sit back and relax.

Are there any Philips Zoom Whitening Instructions?

As I only use the Philips Zoom Whitening system in-chair, there aren’t any rules or instructions you will have to worry about during the treatment.

However, there are some general Philips Zoom Whitening instructions you should follow leading up to your whitening treatment.

  • Determine if you are a good candidate

Patients who are under the age of 18, pregnant, or breastfeeding are unfortunately ineligible for teeth whitening treatments.

Patients with tooth sensitivity are still considered good candidates for Zoom whitening as the process was designed with sensitive teeth in mind.

  • Check up on your dental health

Although teeth become discoloured due to certain habits like smoking or drinking red wine, the discolouration can also be caused by tooth decay and other serious dental issues.

Before I administer whitening treatments at my practice, I need to check the state of your dental health. Any decay, cavities, and damage to your tooth enamel have to be treated before we can continue with the bleaching process.

If you book your Zoom treatment with my practice, you won’t have to worry about scheduling an additional appointment. A general check-up and cleaning are included in the final price.

During your check-up, let me know if you have any dental work or are planning to get crowns or veneers in the near future, as these materials cannot be lighted by bleaching agents. In this case, we will plan to fit the crowns or veneers in your desired tooth shade first and bleach your natural teeth to match, or we can match your restorations to your newly whitened teeth.

  • Get a thorough cleaning

Even the slightest layers of bacteria and plaque on your teeth can prevent the bleaching agent from accessing the deeper layers of your teeth, causing an uneven final result. Getting your teeth cleaned professionally removes any buildup, ensuring that your teeth are whitened evenly to your desired shade.

Removing any plaque, tartar, and buildup could already make your teeth appear whiter, which leads to even better results, as the bleaching agent builds upon your tooth’s shade going into the treatment.

  • Express your concerns

Should you have any concerns or questions about the Zoom treatment specifically or teeth whitening in general, please let me know.

By addressing your questions and concerns, I can help you reduce and pre-treatment anxiety, resulting in a more enjoyable treatment.

Take-Home Kit

After your in-chair whitening, some of my patients also opt for a take-home kit. This means I would digitally scan your teeth, and 3D print a custom tray for your month. There is an additional cost of $150 for this and includes 2 syringes of Philips Zoom whitening gel designed for at home use.

Our at-home kits also enable you to lighten your teeth at your convenience and in the privacy of your own home. Wear these bespoke trays while you watch your favourite tv show, for 30-60 minutes per day until your smile has reached your optimal shade of white. Philips Zoom whitening treatments typically last 12 months. The results can last up to 24 months with take-home whitening and avoiding foods that stain the teeth.
